The 7 Sister States of India which are also called “Paradise Unexplored” is a name given to the contiguous states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura in northeastern India. Geographically speaking these states cover an area of 255,511┬ákm or about 7 percent of India’s total area and their demographic population is of 44.98 million in which is about 3.7 percent of India’s total. Each of these state is a great ethnic and religious diversity. These states located in the North-East India have so much to enroute and explore. Though these states have similarities in political, social and economic contexts but when visited one finds that how different these states are and so much different thing are there which are still to be explored.

1. Arunachal Pradesh:- when we think of Arunachal Pradesh what comes in our mind is the beauty of mountains, breath taking views of sun rise and sun sets and many other things which gives us goosebumps. Tawang, the land of the Monpa and Sherdukpen tribes with centuries-old monastery, Dragon gates, hundred pristine lakes and numerous waterfalls, situated high up in the misty-eyed Eastern Himalaya in this city. Many other places which should be visited by a person during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh are Tawang Monastery, Se La Pass, Bomdila, Itanagar, Naharlagun, Ziro, Daporijo, Pasighat.

2. Assam:-
Assam, the mystic land of lofty blue hills and verdant, undulating river valleys is the gateway to the northeast frontiers of India. A popular stopover for tourists on a North Indian sojourn, there are innumerable tourist attractions in Assam itself. This is a place that is pure and beautiful and the one which settles down in everybody’s heart. The mighty Brahmaputra River that flows down form Tibet to meander through Assam accentuates the state’s beauty. Tourists are often found strolling on the riverbanks basking in the mellow sunshine and the cool wisps of a fluttering evening breeze. Tourists often opt for a boat ride that takes them across the Brahmaputra to the nearby river island of Majuli. This place has a culture of its own which is different from all the other states of India. Some places to visit in this town are Kamakhya Temple, Haflong, Sibsagar, Majuli Island, Manas National Park, Kaziranga National Park, Hajo, Agnigarh.

3. Meghalaya:- the mesmerising Meghalaya beholds so many things to charm its visitors. This place takes you to a different world with its beauty, authenticity and culture. The places to visit in this city are Shillong, Lady Hydari Park, Ward’s Lake, Cathedral Catholic Church, Capt. Williamson Sangma State Museum, Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, Golf Course, Spread Eagle Falls, Sweet Falls, Elephant Falls, Shillong Peak.

4. Manipur:- this place is called the ‘slice of Switzerland in India’. With this its visitors can get a clue how beautiful and breath taking this place is. Filled with north-eastern culture this city has the following places to visit Imphal, Govindajee Temple, War Cemetery, Khonghampat Orchidarium, Loktak Lake, Zoological Gardens, Langthabal, Bishnupur. The local clothing if this city will definitely lure your heart and its cuisines will lure you taste buds.

5. Mizoram:- This town is known as the land of blue mountains, and for its picturesque beauty. Standing aloof from the adjacent plains of Assam and the other neighbouring states, Mizoram remains an exotic location sharing more than one-third of its boundry with Bangladesh and Myanmar. Mizoram has an endless variety of landscape with rich flora and fauna, clusters of whispering pines and quaint villageswith houses on stilts. This place is a treat for every visitor who visits this place. Some places that should visited in this town are Tualchang, Sibuta Lung, Tomb of Vanhimailian, Mangkahia Lung, Phawngui, Lungvandawt, Tadmil, Vantawng Falls, Dampa Sanctuary.

6. Nagaland:- this place is popularly known for its natural scenic beauty. The various places of tourist interests of Nagaland bear relics to the rich cultural heritage and traditional legacy of the place. The ideal time to visit the north eastern state of Nagaland is from October to May. This place will make you experience what natural beauty is and will give you lots of wow moments. Some major attractions of Nagaland are Bamboo Furniture, Cane Furniture, Changtongya, Dzukou, Fakim Sanctuary, Handloom Weaving, Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary, Japfu Peak, Khonoma Gate, Nagaland Museums, Naganimora, Pulie Badze Sanctuary, Nagaland State Museum, Tribal Crafts.

7. Tripura:- this place is popular for its rich and famous wildlife. For people interested in religious places there a wide number of temples and buddhist shrines such as Tripura Sundari Temple, Kamalasagar Kali Temple, Bhubaneswari Temple, Buddha temple at Manu Bakul in South Tripura, Buddha Temple in Venuban Vihar in Agartala. The popular Tripura attractions are Kamalasagar Lake, Dumboor Lake, Ujjayanta Palace, Neermahal, Kunjaban Palace, Tripura Government Museum, Jampui Hill, Dumboor Lake etc. This is one place which is famous for its rich cultural heritage, beautiful palaces, wildlife sanctuaries, temples, museums. A place that is a must visit!
