5 ways in which you can be less annoying on an airplane.

Traveling usually is a source of joy, happiness and relief; “half the fun of travel is in getting to the destination”, travel veterans will tell you. But each of them will at some point had their sunny dispositions turn utterly sour because of the lack of basic etiquette that travel entails. (I’ve had one such experience, and it was the absolute worst!) Even though airplane travel is pretty stiff collar and bleak, it’s possible to be very very very annoying on an airplane without really realizing it. Here’s 5 mistakes you could be making yet be completely unaware of –

1. Don’t be obnoxious

Don’t be that person with the overpowering perfume/cologne, or the one with breath so bad even Godzilla would gag at the smell of it, or the person who keeps falling asleep on other people’s shoulders, or the person who talks really loudly, or the one who uses the restroom too often, and leaves it messy after. (#ugh) Those are the dirtiest kind of people ever born. Don’t even be the person who gets too excited about in flight alcohol and gets tipsy and makes a mess of him/herself.

2. Watch your children, and discipline them when the occasion calls for it.

For the sake of the well being of the fellow travelers on the plane, don’t be like this parent. please.

For your own sake, you don’t want stuff like this to be written about you, and I speak from personal experience.

3. Don’t be rude to the flight attendants

Being rude to the people who serve you, won’t kill you. Being nice to them, will however make their and your own day a lot easier than you can imagine.

4. Recline with care

Sure you need to stretch your legs a little and there’s more than enough space for you to do that, but that doesn’t mean that you do so with blatant disregard for people around you, because not only will you ruin the outfit of the persons sitting behind you if their food tray is out and had stuff to eat and drink on it, but you will also make all of them swear like sailors. Both of which are not very good things.

Lydia is very inconsiderate and selfish, even to her family. She writes to Elisabeth, "it is is a great comfort to have you so rich, and when you have nothing else to do, I hope you will think of us. I am sure Wickham would like a place at court very much, and I do not think we shall have quite money enough to live upon without some help" (Austen 252).

5. Don’t take the overhead bin for your own

Yes you have a lot to put in the bin, yes you want to settle in as soon as possible, but guess what, so does everyone else.

So do yourself and everyone else a favour, calm your marbles and don’t abuse the overhead bin.
